Adapt & Drive is a new adapted vehicle purchase scheme from Mobility in Motion and backed by three of the UK’s most popular car brands that combines a brand-new car with specialist adaptations, expert support, and flexible monthly payments, giving you independence behind the wheel and ownership of the vehicle once payments are complete.

Who is eligible for Adapt & Drive?
It’s perfect for anyone needing a car adapted for mobility reasons, whether you drive yourself or care for someone with additional mobility requirements. It’s built around flexibility, support and independence. While there are widely used, established and valuable schemes available in the UK, not everyone is able to access them, and that’s where Adapt & Drive really can help.
What adaptations can be fitted through Adapt & Drive?
We fit a wide range of adaptations including hand controls, wheelchair stowage solutions, swivel seats, driving aids, and more. Every customer begins with a mobility assessment, which is a standard and essential part of our process. This assessment allows us to understand your needs in detail and recommend the right adaptations to ensure safety, comfort, and independence.
What cars are available through Adapt & Drive?
Is VAT relief available on adapted cars?
You may be able to buy your Adapt & Drive car without paying VAT if the vehicle is being permanently adapted for a wheelchair user and meets HMRC requirements. If you’re eligible, both the car and qualifying adaptations can be supplied at 0% VAT. Don’t worry, our team will guide you through the process and help with the simple declaration form. Will I own the car outright?
Yes! Once all payments under Adapt & Drive are complete, you own the car and all adaptations fitted to it.
Can I test-drive an adapted car before committing?
You can test-drive the car itself at a local dealership if they have your chosen make and model, though it may not have adaptations fitted. During your free mobility assessment, you’ll also be able to try out and see demonstrations of many of the adaptations to make sure they suit your needs.
Is servicing and maintenance included?
Servicing and maintenance will depend on the specific vehicle and its options. We recommend discussing this directly with your dealership when reviewing the vehicle specification and any optional extras.
How do I insure my adapted car?
Because the adaptations are for disability needs and not performance modifications, most insurers will provide cover. It’s still a good idea to discuss your requirements with specialist insurers or brokers familiar with adapted vehicles to ensure you get the right policy.
What if I want to buy a different brand of car, not on the Adapt & Drive scheme, and get it adapted?
If you already have a new car in mind from a brand not currently on the Adapt & Drive scheme, we can still adapt it!
