Our charity partner Spinal Injuries Association

Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is the UK’s national association and expert, guiding voice for life after spinal cord injury (SCI). Through specialist services, peer support and advocacy, SIA helps people with SCI and their families navigate life after injury and campaign for greater inclusion. SIA aims to reach everyone affected by spinal cord injury, tackle whatever barriers they face, and connect them to all the help and support they need to flourish in their lives, in the way they want and choose.

Supporting the SCI community

SIA’s services are free to access and built around the needs of people living with spinal cord injury and their families. A freephone support line connects people to specialist advice on everything from employment and housing to finances, travel and accessibility. A team of SCI clinical specialists, including nurses and an occupational therapist, provide expert guidance on clinical care and can help people navigate health and care systems at every stage. Community groups run across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland each month, offering a space to connect with others who understand life with SCI. SIA also publishes Forward magazine and a range of guides, factsheets and resources to help people manage their condition and make informed decisions about their lives.

Working with SIA

SIA’s Frank Williams Academy delivers training and education to healthcare professionals across the UK, building specialist knowledge of spinal cord injury in the health and care sector. Organisations can also support SIA’s work through Business Membership, which offers a range of benefits including a listing in SIA’s trusted network directory; a resource used by people with SCI to find services and expertise they can rely on.

SIA Lifestyle is SIA’s social enterprise, connecting people in the SCI community with products and services chosen to support independence and everyday living. Mobility in Motion is part of the SIA Lifestyle network, making their products available to SIA members alongside an exclusive offer. SIA members can save 5% on Autochair, Brig-Ayd and BraunAbility products through Mobility in Motion, and a further 5% of each purchase is donated to the Spinal Injuries Association (registered charity no. 1054097), helping to fund their charitable services.
